Cambodia Day 7 - Saturday - Last Day in Phnom Penh

Saturday morning, we had a light breakfast and hit the road for Phnom Penh. We said goodbye to the Smiths while Luke joined us for the trek back north.

We drove to KCC and met with John Gim to hear his testimony and learn about his areas of focus in Cambodia. John was formerly a ruling elder at City Light Church (pastored by Dennis Kang, a good friend of Pastor Andy) and an executive at a global ad agency. John's calling to Cambodia falls under the Business as Mission (BAM) area within MTW, which enables missionaries to leverage their business experience for the kingdom of God through contextual application. An interesting aspect of BAM is that its shape and form are really predicated on matching skills and talents to areas of local church and ministry need. John's work is enabling bi-vocational pastors to thrive and looking toward a larger vision of economic stability for the Church in Cambodia generally.

We were treated to Korean BBQ for lunch, spending time getting to know John and Carol and their testimonies. After lunch, we said goodbye to Luke and Asa (who would only hug Jimin), and we headed over to a game room with Mark Ambrose and John to hang out while the kids played games. It was nice to dig into their respective ministries and continue to build upon what will hopefully be lasting relationships with these two amazing brothers.

Pastor Andy got in on the action, even hitting the bullseye on his last try (not pictured here).

Meanwhile, the ladies went to Dahlia Dorm to spend time in fellowship with the girls there. They did arts and crafts and shared their favorite Bible verses, explaining why these verses were meaningful to them. Nearly every girl had a verse that held meaningful significance, demonstrating how God was at work healing and loving His dear children.

As the final activity of the trip, we gathered at an outdoor soccer field to play Captain's Ball with the ladies from Dahlia Dorm. The game most resembles soccer, except that the person with the ball cannot run, instead throwing to advance the ball into each respective goal, past the goalie. Not going to lie, the ladies were dominant! After the game, we celebrated Hugh's birthday, followed by a devotional and words of encouragement from Pastor Andy. We then headed back to wash up at KCC before heading off to the airport.

The brothers and sisters from KCC/RCC came and sent us off! What an amazing trip. More to come when the team reflects back on the trip during the missions report.
